Friday July 5 - Wiesbaden

Drove to Wiesbaden and did some sightseeing.  Paul had been stationed in Wiesbaden for three years while in the air force so he knew some of the city and enjoyed revisiting it.  

We stopped at the Crystal factory where we bought some crystal.  We also visited the large cuckoo clock (as tall as the roof of the building) where they sold cuckoo clocks.  

And then to a park for a picnic lunch.  And then to Rheinstein Castle, where the kids really liked just poking around.

We also explored Burg Sooneck.

Back in the car we took the ferry across the river and then drove up the Rhine River.  At dinner time, we ate in Rudesheim, but were disappointed that there was no oom-pah-pah band. 

Perhaps we were too early.
